Richard P. Taylor, Jr.
Ricky peacefully finished his last marathon race, battling Pick's Dementia on St. Patrick's Day. He finished pretty holding hands with his friend.
Preceded in their passage to heaven by father: Richard P. Taylor Sr; mother: Dorothy West Taylor Close, Stepfather: Martin Close; and Brother: William Taylor all of Alexandria, LA.
Ricky leaves behind his Partner and best friend Judy Palazzo; Sister in Law: Charlot Taylor in Alexandria, LA; sister: Carol Taylor in Louisiana; family Michelle, Chad, Lori and Evan Simpson in Hendersonville, NC; Erica and Barry Wood in Atlanta, GA. Also many wonderful friends from high school, New Orleans and Asheville.
Ricky was born in Alexandria, LA and attended Bolton High School. He earned degree in Electrical Engineering from Louisiana Tech University where he played football. "Smallest guy on the team with the biggest heart". He moved to New Orleans after graduation working in the power and light industry. He retired from TRC Solutions in Asheville, NC.
He was an IEEE fellow – the worlds largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit humanity. Beside his love of his work, Rick's passion was running. He ran many Crescent City Classic Races in New Orleans and the 100th Boston Marathon. He enjoyed running the mountains of western North Carolina with all his running buddies.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 10:00 am at The Island Funeral Home and Crematory, 4 Cardinal Road, Hilton Head Island, SC 29926 followed by a brief Memorial Service at 11:00 am, with a reception to follow.
