Marian K. Morgan passed away at the age of 71 on August 21, 2017, following a brief illness.
She was born in New York City on May 11, 1946, the daughter of Thomas F. Moore and his wife Bernice Isaacson Moore. As a child, she and her mother moved to Detroit Lakes, MN, where she grew up and graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1964. She attended college at the University of Tampa and later obtained her degree from Mills College in New York City.
Following college, Marian worked for the brokerage firm of Reynolds and Co. (later Dean Witter Reynolds). She worked on Wall Street for more than 10 years, giving up her career to devote her time to raising her two sons and four dogs.
On May 2, 1975, she married Porter Pierpont Morgan, who also worked on Wall Street. They were married for 42 years until her passing. Marian and her family lived in Oakland, NJ, for many years and then in Sudbury, MA, until they retired to Hilton Head Island in 2002. Before retiring to Hilton Head, she was very active in school, community, civic and charitable organizations in both Oakland and Sudbury. She continued her engagement in such activities in retirement, becoming involved with various committees of Wexford Plantation and charitable work throughout the Hilton Head community.
She will always be remembered for her sense of humor and engaging personality. She had an innate ability to make new friends while maintaining relationships with friends from all phases of her life.
She is survived by her husband Porter Pierpont Morgan of Hilton Head, son Neal T. Morgan and his wife Karen of Durham, NC, son Ryan C. Morgan and his wife Nisha of Atlanta. She is also survived by stepdaughter Laura E. Morgan of Bluffton, SC, and stepson Porter P. Morgan Jr., and his wife Cindy of Orlando, FL. She was most proud of her three grandchildren, Alden Morgan of Durham, NC, and Alex and Porter Morgan III of Orlando, FL.
On Saturday, August 26, 2017, at 1:00 PM a memorial service will be held at St. Andrew by the Sea United Methodist Church on Pope Ave., Hilton Head.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn or The Wexford Charitable Foundation.
