Jean Doxey Ruth
Jean Doxey Ruth passed away peacefully January 7, 2017 at the Preston Health Center in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Born in Nashville, Tennessee on October 5, 1930 she was predeceased by her husband, George Wells Ruth Jr. who passed away in 2015.
Jean is survived by her four children, Elizabeth R. Spinney (Betsy) and her husband, Scott, of Evergreen Colorado, Lindsley R. Baird (Lindi) and her husband, Tom, of Nashville, Tennessee, George W. Ruth III and his wife, Elizabeth, of Terrell, North Carolina, Patricia R. Culpepper (Tricia) and her husband, Tim, of Cullman, Alabama. She is also survived by her two sisters, Myra W. Willeyof Lebanon, Tennessee and Mary F. Wilson of Louisville, Kentucky. Mrs. Ruth had eight grand children. They are John Mayton of Erie, Colorado, Katie Barton of Denver, Colorado, Thomas Baird of Nashville, Tennessee, Lindsley Baird of Nashville, Tennessee, Elizabeth B. Ruth of Charlotte, North Carolina, Mary Wells Ruth of Portland, Oregon, Mary Culpepper of Cullman, Alabama and Jack Culpepper of Cullman, Alabama. In addition, she is survived by six great grandchildren.
Mrs. Ruth was educated and married in Tennessee and later moved to Chillicothe, Ohio, Waterloo, Belgium, Scottsboro, Alabama, Dayton, Ohio, Neenah, Wisconsin and then retired in Hilton Head, South Carolina. An avid bridge player, she enjoyed the company of her many friends and acquaintances. She will be dearly remembered and missed by many.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of her life to be held Saturday, January 21 at 4:00 pm at The Cypress Main Hall in Hilton Head Plantation, 20 Ladyslipper Lane, Hilton Head Island, SC.
