Frank O’Connell of Hilton Head Island, SC, passed away Friday, February 16, 2018. Born in 1945 in New York City, Frank later attended Xavier High School where he was captain of the track team. He received his undergraduate degree at Villanova University and his MBA at Long Island University and spent his career on Wall Street as a bond trader. Survivors include his wife Shelley, mother Mary, brother Daniel (Pat), sister-in-law Cheryl Grau (Don), a nephew, several nieces, and several grandnieces and grandnephews. Frank is predeceased by his father, Daniel O’Connell.
Known as “Mr. Basketball” by the Villanova board he loved cheering on his Wildcats basketball team, spending summers at the Jersey Shore, casual entertaining of family and friends, singing karaoke, and volunteering at the Hilton Head Humane Society where he found his faithful dog, Elvis.
Frank was known to his friends as being unique, a genuine character, one of a kind and an acquired taste. He brought laugher and joy to many and will be greatly missed by all.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 10:30 am at St Francis by the Sea Catholic Church.
